Fashion & Hope
It all started as my Girl Scout Gold Award project.
The Gold Award, is the highest award in Girl Scouts, earned by creating a sustainable community service project. For my Gold Award, I used my fashion design skills to create fashionable, comfortable hospital gowns for critically ill children. I do this because I know how fashion makes me feel beautiful and everyone deserves that feeling, especially when fighting cancer. Fashion & Hope took 122 hours for me to complete, and I have put a lot more hours into this project now since it is ongoing. My project has grown to be even bigger than I could have ever imagined, having made over 200 hospital gowns, now in children's hospitals in 18 US states and a hospital in London. One time, the mother of a child who received a gown from me, recognized me in public. With tears in her eyes, she hugged me and told me how I made a difference for her son.
